Canadian Foundation for Innovation (CFI) Funding
The CFI’s funding architecture is designed to deliver on the CFI’s mandate by meeting the current needs of the research community, its partners and stakeholders. The CFI funding architecture covers the full spectrum of infrastructure: projects to attract a leading researcher; team-led innovative projects that have a structuring effect for an institution or a region; and large-scale national projects.

Communications Research Centre (CRC) Canada
CRC is focused on addressing increasing demands on Radio Frequency spectrum fuelled by the proliferation of mobile devices running bandwidth‑hungry applications. CRC is well positioned to address resulting spectrum challenges and opportunities by performing research and development, providing scientific and technical advice, and supporting the creation of technological solutions that maximize the effective utilization of Radio Frequency spectrum.

FedNor – Funding for Research and Development
Under FedNor’s Innovation priority, businesses can apply for project financing for activities related to applied research and development including initiatives that increase the level of innovation, productivity, quality and competitiveness in key sectors such as biotechnology, the mining and forest industries, agri-food, information and communications technology, renewable energy and manufacturing.

Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada – Industrial Research & Development Fellowships
Industrial Research & Development Fellowships (IRDF) help companies hire a recent Ph.D. graduate for a two-year period to undertake a research project (or projects) of importance to the company, and to evaluate the post-doctoral fellow for potential long-term employment.

Ontario Innovation Tax Credit 
The Ontario Innovation Tax Credit (OITC) is a refundable tax credit. It is available to all corporations that perform scientific research and experimental development (SR&ED) in Ontario. The Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) administers the program on behalf of Ontario through the federal income tax system.

Mitacs-Accelerate is Canada’s premiere research internship program. It connects companies with over 50 research-based universities through graduate students and postdoctoral fellows, who apply their specialized expertise to business research challenges. Interns transfer their skills from theory to real-world application, while the companies gain a competitive advantage by accessing high-quality research expertise.
